Job of the month

This month's job of the month has gone to a suite of jobs that WPM have produced for our new client RPS Group!

The brief was to assist them with sourcing a range of print and promotional products, all to be branded and ready it time for the move into their new office premises. Each of the 200 staff members were to receive a set of business cards, a drink bottle, coaster, a packet of RPS branded Roc Candy, a lanyard and their own biodegradable earth friendly pen. All  to be on their desk as soon as they walked in.

We provided suggestions for products, samples and information on each item as well as producing artwork based on their corporate guidelines. All items were ready a week before the move and we stored them here at WPM until they were required at the new office. Everything was delivered in time to be on everyone's desk when they arrived at their new "home".

For the business cards, we liaised with RPS to set up an online template, then trained one person in each department within RPS.  This person was responsible for entering the business card details for their department into the template, and then placing the order online. All 164 sets of business cards were ordered, with some orders placed only 2 days before the due date!

We continue to work with RPS on all their printed items and have made all their products available on their online catalogue for future online ordering.

The green corner

An ethical, stylish, sustainable and re-usable promotional product??

This month's green corner focuses on Jute Bags and why we think they are the next promotional must have.

Unlike other promotional bags that give the perception of being green, where the only thing green about them is the colour, jute bags are 100% natural and biodegradable! They are ethically sourced, good for the environment in terms of production, and when they return back to the earth they put nutrients back into the soil!

Jute can be fully customised to the style of your choice and coloured to match pantone colours using vegetable based dyes. When finished off with your logo or promotional message you have a giveaway that you can really feel good about that doesn't cost the earth.

Get on your bike

A group of WPM's clients and friends took part in last year's Great Perth Bike Ride to raise money for charity (we have put a team together for three years now).

It's on again for 2010 (date to be confirmed and already people are shaving their legs and building up their calf muscles for another crack). Sign up with the WPM team and you will receive a free WPM riding shirt and cap.

 APPA Show update

The APPA trade show is fast approaching on March 23rd with newer products, newer catalogues and  fresh ideas to add to this year's promotional marketing plans. We are constantly on the search for new and exciting products and it's events like APPA tradeshows where we get to see what's out there and what could work for you.

Last month's stories

Job of the month

We're thrilled to announce that last month's job of the month goes to music gurus Kosmic Sound's Christmas Catalogue! WPM worked closely with Kosmic to produce a catalogue that was tailored to suit their budget. Paper stock, pagination and quantity were some of the factors considered in order to achieve this result.  A web offset printer was used to print the 350,000 copies, all printed and bound in less than 2 days from proof approval! A lightweight paper was also selected to keep costs down, as they were to be distributed via walkers into mailboxes throughout WA.

If you haven't already seen it in the mail you can check out the catalogue by clicking on the link below.

APPA announces 2010 Roadshow

The Australasian Promotional Products Association will be on the road again in March 2010, so we managed to get in early to secure our spot at the show and check out all the latest gear. From pens to flash drives to the latest in environmentally friendly products, we will suss it out and keep you up to date. For any current ideas, please remember to check out the merchandising section of this website.

Puzzled for Ideas?

WPM has just come across another cool new idea that we thought was worth sharing. It's a USB drive which you can twist and turn three sections to create different looks or a puzzle. USB drives are a great way to promote your brand and you have the option of pre-loading data as well as access to a range of attachments such as lanyards and key rings, depending on the target audience. The memory chip can range from 128Mb up to 8GB! For more information, please contact Jess Catalano (08 9200 4281) or Jackie Rankine (08 9200 4282).

Shaping the music

Right on the heels of custom USBs are custom-shape MP3 players which can be tailored from a simple sketch and brought to life with a soft PVC or silicone material. The creative possibilities are endless and we think they are a great option for a fun yet completely personalized promotional gift. Lead time is approximately 4 weeks.

For more info please call Jess Catalano 08 9200 4281 or Jackie Rankine 08 9200 4282, or to view a wider range of products please click on the link below.

Promoting and growing your business

Another one of our favourite promotional ideas at the moment is Seedsticks. These are an innovative and easy way to plant and grow seeds. Available in a range of flowers, vegetables, herbs and native seed varieties, they are also Australian made using biodegradable glues and boards.

A versatile eco-friendly product which is custom made and priced to suit the simplest of promotions or the largest of advertising campaigns.

Neil Clark gets a glimpse of the future and likes it.

A print press that requires virtually no extra paper for set up and ‘overs’, and reaches full print speed of 18,000 sheets per hour within two minutes of plates being fitted.

Yep, that’s right. Eighteen thousand.

Things are getting smarter and faster in the printing industry, and WPM is there to see how it can benefit clients. Neil Clark, CEO of WPM, went to the Pac Print exhibition in Melbourne recently. It comes around every four years and is a showcase of the latest print production technology worldwide. A window into the future.

Neil also saw digital presses that now print labels in reels and can change image and jobs seamlessly and faultlessly on the fly. ‘We’re the eyes and ears for our clients’ says Neil. ‘As WPM is an independent purchaser of printed material, we need to know which suppliers, either new or current, will be commissioning these new technologies. That’s why it’s important we attend these shows.’

While Pac Print demonstrated a lot of improvements in quality, the real emphasis was on efficiencies and speed of turnaround. Also, an all-new ‘green’ print process was shown for the very first time with stunning results.

‘All in all it was a great exhibition’ says Neil. ‘WPM was able to secure some great products and access to new suppliers Australia-wide. We can ensure our clients are utilising the latest technologies available.’

ANOTHER NEW PRODUCT OF THE MONTH

HOW MUCH MONEY CAN YOU SAVE WITH WPM?

Any business of a reasonable size should be looking to save at least 5% in printing costs by using a print management system. WPM is consistently saving its clients around 10%. That can add up to a lot of money over a year.

What does it cost a client to use West Print Management’s systems? Nothing. Not a thing. Because WPM operates on buying power. With over 70 printers and suppliers across all production techniques to choose from, Australia-wide, by selecting the right supplier for the right job real savings are made.

WHAT OTHER SAVINGS CAN I EXPECT?

The big one is time. Our clients don't need to spend time dealing with suppliers and all the issues associated with production. Our state of the art software delivers huge savings in time for example reporting at every level of activity. One client was spending over 500 hours per year managing print, they now spend around 200. All these savings are confirmed when we conduct our six monthly client reviews.

EDITORIAL

It’s no wonder the idea of print management is becoming more and more attractive. This is a system that allows you to go to your personal catalogue online, order online, and know that your stock will be instantly adjusted. The order is then fulfilled and dispatched and the reporting and recording made automatically.

Spending limits can be set to work within cost centre budgets and reports are available instantly, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Clients know where everything is, how much is in stock, and how much has been spent. It’s called freedom, and it saves so much time, money and grief.

INDUSTRY AFFILIATIONS

WPM is a member of CCI (Chamber of Commerce and Industry) and APPA (Australian Promotional Products Association). APPA membership qualification is not easy, but it gives us direct access to manufacturers. Our clients see a direct reduction in what they pay for products.
